A really unusual refurbished solid brass antique rim lock with the keep being an identical dummy lock, mid to late 1800s. These style of rim locks are for pairs of doors, the lock section would go on the inside of the left door and the keep on the right. Its got something of the gothic revival about it & looks quite English but generally these are French and the mechanism looks French to me. The key is quite short so will only really work from the inside, as with most continental door furniture the spindle entry for the handle spindle is quite small at
