Large Antique Front Door Rim Lock

A lightly refurbished large Antique Victorian front door rim lock dating from the mid 1800's, quite a substantial item weighing in at 2.5kg (5.5lb). Stamped JA's Carpentry patentee we recently removed this from an old front door. This example still has its original key and it also has an additional thumb latch located on the bottom of the lock.

Overall good original working condition, its been lightly repainted and sealed with a specialist waxoil, we've then dulled down the waxoil with some wire wool. The keep is definitely later, it looks like at some point the lock was recessed into the door with a mortice keep then moved onto the surface and the door and the keep has been made into a box keep. It takes the larger 8mm square spindle (if you need one let us know). The keep works fine we've tested it out on the bench, it needs to be fitted quite precisely because of the way the bolt slides into the keep, it came with a thin brass spacer behind the keep. The brass slider for the thumb latch has some damage, still works fine (see pic)
